How to Save Money on Last Minute Travel- If you are making a last minute vacation or need to get out of town quickly, here are some ways to save money.

Life doesn’t always go as planned. In fact, most of the time we fly by the seats of our pants, and I am sure you do as well. The bad thing is that you can save a lot of money when you plan ahead, but sometimes that just isn’t always possible. So, here are some ways to save money on last minute travel!

How to Save Money on Last Minute Travel

Avoid the Weekend Like the Plague

This may not be a possibility, but if you have to travel within 7 days, don’t travel over the weekend. The absolute cheapest day to travel is usually Wednesday. This is because people either travel Friday through Monday or Thursday through Sunday. Shoot for hump day if you want to save on last minute travel. Even gas prices are cheaper on hump day.

Book a Red Eye Flight

Most people don’t want to spend the night on the plane which is a benefit to last minute travelers. You can save up to 50% on a flight just traveling overnight. Bring some ear plugs, a pillow, and catch a little- shut eye on the plane.

Check the Airlines

When it comes to getting last minute flights, checking the actual airlines is going to be your best option. Even discount sites can’t beat an airline trying to sell quick tickets to fill up their plane. Airlines will usually try and fill up empty seats by posting amazing deals on tickets right on their website.

Get Deals from Online Sites

Sites like and Priceline offer killer last minute deals. Whether you need airfare, a rental car, or an inexpensive hotel room, head on over to some last minute deal sites. You can even call these deals sites and haggle for a lower price.

Pitch the Company

Most people don’t have the courage to just ask for what they want. Look at it this way, companies want your business. That is a fact! So, instead of scouring around for fast deals, call the company and ask for the price you want. The worst they can do is say no. If you really want to get what you want, offer to do a good review for a reasonable or free price!

Shop for Bundled Options

Instead of looking for your hotel, airfare, and car rental separately, look for bundles or all-inclusive deals. Much like insurance, the more you bundle the more you save. Even last minute travelers can score great deals on bundled options.

Look for Coupons and Promo Codes

You may be able to score an even better deal than the discount you got by searching for additional coupons and promo codes. Simply type in the company and “coupons” or “promo code” after it to search for a better deal.
